My story
Hello, I’m Krista Hehedysh, a Ukrainian contemporary artist currently based in Paris. I hold a Master’s degree in Fine Arts and Design from the Lviv National Academy of Arts. Creativity has been a constant in my life: I grew up in a family of artists, where making art was simply the language of daily life. For me, creating has never been a choice, but a way of being.
For eight years I ran my own interior design studio in Ukraine. During that period, I painted and developed custom artworks integrated into the spaces I created. In 2022, I moved to New York, where I was deeply engaged with photography. In 2023, relocated to Paris and returned fully to painting, dedicating myself to creating series of works that reflect transition, longing, identity, and emotional depth. No matter the medium — spaces, images, or paint — creativity remains my guiding compass.
Artist statement
My art is born from the desire to understand the inner world of a person — what often remains unseen and unspoken. I explore emotions, memories, fleeting sensations, and spaces of silence, where the presence of thoughts and states becomes deeply tangible. I am interested in how we experience time, change, solitude, inner transformation, and hidden states of consciousness. Through abstraction and symbolism, I strive to convey the movement of inner life, moments of hesitation, waiting, protection, and release — the traces that remain after lived experiences.
My approach combines intuitive feeling with careful observation, where form is guided by emotion, and color, light, and shadow become the language of feeling. I work with fragments of human figures, natural forms, and space to express invisible internal processes, subtle moods, and psychological nuances. My works invite the viewer to empathy, reflection, and personal discovery — both as a quiet observation of what happens within and as a reflection on what remains in the world after us.
